Next Monday night the Canberra Raiders tackle the Melbourne Storm down at Olympic park. While we have not had the best start to the season heading into our first Bye, I think it is important to remember that we are not a club in crisis. While the ladder may say 2-6, we have been in every match and would have arguably won some of these if not for a few very contentious refereeing decisions.

The law of averages suggests that these decisions balance out by the end of the year, so surely we are bound to see some 50/50 decisions go our way, with a bit more luck we might even get some correct decisions awarded to the boys in green.

The effort is definitely there, this may sound clichéd, but it is true. When things start to click just watch how our side goes. We have blooded a lot of Rookies this year, who have all shown they have what it takes to match it in the NRL, these players are gaining valuable experience and the rewards will be shown in the future. Our new buys have also shown some quality form. All the ingredients are there for us to be successful.

The Raiders Army just want to remind all Raiders fans to get behind the side when they need you the most. It is very easy to get on board and show support when the side has won five in a row, but it is times like this when the support in the crowd can really help lift the side on the field.

Our next home game is against the Warriors on Sunday May 24, we would like to see a big turn out at Canberra Stadium to support the boys.

If you live in Sydney and are interesting in getting on A Raiders Army Bus to the game please contact Jed on jangus76@hotmail.com for further details.

Raiders Army 2009 News.

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

 All,

I am happy to confirm that we have come to an agreement with Countrylink regarding buses to away games and have secured coaches for each of our 7 away games in Sydney and have a tentative booking for the Newcastle away game. Countrylink are also going to put together a package for our game in Melbourne, which includes travel & accommodation, so we will see how we go with that one. The bus company we have secured has a 48 seater with a toilet and a 27 seater for games where we don’t get as many tourists. They will also be helping out the Sydney lads with their bookings (if required) and can arrange for the ‘beer on the way back’ policy to be allowed for their trips down the Hume.

I am ready to take expressions of interest and payments for the Wests Tigers away game in Round 1, to be played on Monday March 16th in Campbelltown. I will confirm the departure times a little closer to the event, but I would envisage a 2pm departure from Jolimont at this stage. Cost for the trip will be $55 per person, which includes your return travel and maybe a beer or two on the way home. If you are interested in attending our first game of the season 9and kicking it off in style I might add), send me an email and I will add you to the list.

Also for those who purchased Greenbay 72 memberships, we have just got word that the flags have arrived at Raiders HQ. So bring in your membership card/ID to collect them.

Additionally, the Socceroos are taking on Kuwait in an Asian Cup Qualifier at Canberra Stadium on Thursday March 5. We are putting together a little crew and making a group booking of tickets in the “home” end. Tickets are $25 each, and we will probably have a pre-game syrup somewhere as well. If you are interested in joining us, send me an email at kw@raidersarmy.com

Happy days,

2009 Raiders Army Season Tickets.

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

This year the club has worked with the Raiders Army to create the “Green Bay 72″ Membership.

The following is from the Raiders Website.

Do you want to be a part of the new Green Bay 72?

Rugby League commentators have referred to our fans as “the most passionate in the game” and without doubt the most visual and vocal group of fans on a game day at Canberra Stadium sit in Bay 72.

The Raiders, with support from the Raiders Army* are encouraging all fans to consider sitting in the new Green Bay 72.

We would love to make this area as ‘infamous’ as the SCG Hill or Bay 13 at the MCG and we are sure that visiting teams will try to avoid, where possible, the South Eastern corner of Canberra Stadium!

‘Green Bay 72’ has a limited number of seats and as an incentive to make this area more visual and vocal than it currently is, the Club will provide an additional ‘Exclusive Bay 72 Item’ to those members
that sign up in this area.

Enhance your game day experience by getting amongst “the most passionate fans in the game”

Hope to see you all there next season.
