Manly Away

Well, despite the scoreline, we really had a good time and enjoyed meeting some new prospective members. Some of the play from our young team was very promising and it’s important that we get behind them during these difficult first few weeks. I must say that the Manly fans are amongst the most arrogant I have ever encountered on my travels, and I’ve been to Campbelltown. A group of fans didn’t like our singing so they thought they’d throw half full bottles of drink at us. Not good. Oh and one other thing. Brookvale oval is officially at the bottom of the pile as far as NRL stadiums go. Twice the lights went out and at one point, a top flight match of rugby league was being played in less light than is usually seen on a monday night at Kambah Oztag! I suppose Max Delmege spent all his money on Jamie Lyon and now can’t afford the power bill!

I concur with Ben, it was a great day. We got beaten on the field but we won in the stands. Dirty Manly fans resorting to dirty tactics like that. It was my first and last trip to Brookvale, it was a disgrace plain and simple.

I also want to say thanks to Ben for organising the trio and then driving the bus up and back. And then dropping off peoplae on the way home.

Egerly await Ultra’s report. Which is sure to be littered with colourful events. Was great to see all the regulars after a long painful off season. Highlights – marko’s bottle top opener fiasco and azz’s drunken recruitment drive.

Brookvale is a shithole… pay $25 to stand a hill that can be described as a law suit waiting to happen, lighting that would make the local lawn bowls club blush, surrounded by dirty, filthy manly fans that throw things and have to be told when to cheer and then to top it all off, having a great army turn out witness that rubbish display of footy…

Ohwell, looking forward to getting back to the bruce next week.
